The History of Mechanica

Prehistoric Invisionfree Era

Long ago, in the glorious year of 2005, an Invisionfree forum going by the name of Mechanica was created by A_Familiar_Aquaintance (now Cerebral Divinity). Early members and staff of this forum included Da1UcallBob, 343GuiltySpark (now Syntax Error), Dark Lord Spoon (still Dark Lord Spoon), Jedi Master Steve (who is not on Neo Mechanica presently), and Nighm (now Dismas). After a short while, Jedi Master Steve led the first Mechanica rebellion, hijacking Nighm's account and making use of his global moderator abilities to alter the forum. This forced AFA to complete several months of recovery operations. Jedi Master Steve was banned forever and Nighm lost his moderator status.

Invisionfree Golden Era

Soon thereafter, Trouble joined, bringing with him a brand new host of members. It all went pretty well, excluding Da1uCallBob's rebellion, and scores of great things occurred under the watchful eye of the new admin team (A_Familiar_Acquaintance, Trouble, and NuclearFallout). Many bizarre things happened, such as the lawsuit resulting in Judge Naota Nandaba, And the Hellbacon multiple-identity confusion.

Mechanica.uni.cc Era

However, in an attempt to make the site more customizable and generally more enjoyable, AFA moved the site to a new free host (www.awardspace.com) under the domain http://www.mechanica.uni.cc . This proved hopeful for a while, providing more opportunities for features like the jukebox and allowing AFA and Trouble to showcase their own flash games. However, the good times didn't last, as the rules of the new host insisted upon several restrictive word filters and, for some obscure reason, never linking to certain commercial sites. The new site was eventually completely consumed by Awardspace.com's impossibly aggressive word filters.

Revival to Present Day

The site remained dead for a long time after that, but now, with the drive of most of the old membership base, it's reborn, and once again enters the bid for total domination of the internet. Long Live Neo Mechanica!

GrazyGerman's Ragequit

Recently, one of Neo Mechanica's Moderators lost an argument with CerebralDivinity and ragequitted the site. You can read all about the entire incident at the CrazyGerman's Ragequit entry.

Passing the torch

As of recently, CerebralDivinity had decided that he no longer could develop and run beloved NM and passed it on to long time lurker and the only active admin AeroNex. This promises the future of NM remains bright with new features in the works and plans to bring NM to new heights of glory and beyond.
