Wiki

From Neo Mechanica

Our homepage is powered by Wikimedia. This means that Trouble and I can have endless, pointless fun. Anyone can feel free to join us. Just join the forum, and submit an application requesting to be a part of the Wiki group. Be sure that you understand the rules associated with the Wiki as well as the general rules. Below is a quick summary of them, but you should also read the full rules article to get a complete understanding.

FAQ

  • Does the Wiki use different user names/passwords?
    • No, the account you use for the forum also works with the Wiki.
  • Why do we even have a Wiki?
    • Everyone can contribute, rather than just the Administration.
    • It keeps edit history, so if someone messes stuff up, we can easily revert.
    • I'm familiar with the software.
    • Wikimedia sounds cooler than both Droopal and Joomba, which would be our alternatives.
    • It integrates with our forum seamlessly.
  • What is the Wiki Group that you sometimes speak of but never explain?
    • It's basically a group within the forum. If you go to User Control Panel -> Usergroups, you can see which groups you are in. If you are in the Wiki group, you can edit the Wiki by logging on to it with the same user name and password that you use for the forum.

Rules

Follow these rules or you'll be banned for an eternity:

  • DO NOT Give others' personal information, such as
    • Real Name
    • Location
    • Social Security Number
    • Zodiac Sign (kidding...)
  • DO NOT Take things too seriously on a page that isn't trying to be serious. Really. I can't stress this enough. Rarely will anything be very serious on here, with the exception of the rules and policies. We're all just here for a bit of fun. If you don't enjoy the Wiki, just avoid the non-serious articles. The forum will still likely be well moderated and clean.
  • Don't break your countries' laws.
    • No porn.

If you violate these policies, we, the administration retain the right to ban you forever, or worse.

Formatting

Wiki uses this weird formatting system. It's not an especially difficult thing to learn or understand. When you edit a page, you can see how certain words have symbols around the (like =, ', :, etc). Interestingly enough, all of these change the way something is formatted. See the Wikipedia Cheetsheet for a quick reference, or see our Help page. And nom nom nom.
